Reduced Sentence for Chili Finger Woman?

I am sure you remember the original story - it started in March, 2005 when a diner at Wendy’s claimed to find a finger in her chili (see story). The story progressed as the unfortunate diner filed a lawsuit against Wendy’s and then dropped the lawsuit less than three weeks later. As the investigation continued it came out that the diner, Anna Ayala, and her husband concocted the entire story using a finger of a friend that was cut off in an accident. Anna and her husband were given nine year sentences for the scam.

Now, two years later it appears that Anna Ayala’s sentence may be reduced (see story).

Insurance fraud, such as this, is one of the reasons why our insurance rates are so incredibly high. This little scam, all done for greed, hurt Wendy’s, employees of Wendy’s, the California taxpayers - who had to pay the court costs, and all Americans who get stuck with higher insurance rates because of scams like this. Should the sentence be reduced - not in my opinion.

What do you think?

What a crock. If she was sentenced then it should remain. Of course, things like this are examples of the wonderful American judicial system.
